ADF was founded in 2014 by Joaquim Capuia to give the NW soccer community a much needed academy program for youth development.
Our goal is to help players increase their technical abilities, learn to play faster, think quicker and make better decisions. Numerous players from our club have gone on to ODP, D1 College, MLS Academy and professional careers.

Technical Training
ADF emphasizes strong technical development from the earliest ages. Players master individual skills, improve first touch, increase speed of play, and gain the confidence needed to excel in competitive environments. For players needing additional support, our coaching staff provides individualized attention and specialized drills.
Methodology
ADF Portland uses a modern, intentional training methodology built around technical mastery, structured development, and intelligent play. Our unique curriculum and style of play set us apart from traditional clubs in the Northwest.As a development-focused academy, we emphasize close collaboration among our coaching staff to design a training program that gives players the tools they need to grow at every stage. Style Of Play
ADF’s style of play is rooted in a possession-based philosophy that emphasizes intelligence, control, and creativity on the ball. We train players to value the ball, make smart decisions, and dictate the tempo of the game through purposeful movement and technical precision.Our approach focuses on:1. Building from the back with confidence2. Maintaining possession under pressure3. Quick combination play and intelligent support angles4. Creating numerical advantages in key areas of the field5. Developing players who can read the game and solve problemsADF players are encouraged to be calm in possession, brave in their ideas, and intentional in their execution. By prioritizing technical excellence and understanding of the game, our teams compete effectively against top programs including MLS NEXT and ECNL opponents while staying true to our identity.A possession-based model not only elevates team performance but also develops smarter, more adaptable players who can succeed at higher levels of the game.
League Play
ADF provides players the opportunity to compete in the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) and the Olympic Development Program (ODP) from ages 6 to 19. Our teams typically compete in the Gold and Silver Divisions. Additionally, we are affiliated with International Portland Select, our men's Semi-professional team, which offers players invaluable experience and exposure in the UPSL and GPSD adult leagues. This connection helps prepare them for the next level, whether it's collegiate or professional play.
College Preperation
We believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunites for all our players. We emphasize the importance of academics, encouraging each player to take their education seriulsly, as it serves as a foundation for their future success both on and off the field. Our mission is to support and guide our players in balancing their studies with their passion for soccer, ensuring they have the tools to excel in school while pursuing their athletic goals. By fostering this mindset, we aim to empower our players to achieved their dreams and open door to endless possibilities. Many of our alumni are currently attending universities and colleges across the country and state.

JUNIOR AcademyBoys and Girls Youth Program | 10-13Age | 2Locations | Our U11 – U14 program is a highly competitive boys program that runs the full year (ending in May). The program consists of training 2 – 3 times a week, summer tournaments, fall league, optional winter program and spring league, state cup or Presidents Cup. All ADF teams will compete in the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) leagues and Washington Youth Association. | Read More |
